Yield Rate

Yield rate is the share of output that meets standard the first time, without rework, repair, or scrap. It is good units divided by total units started, and the honest versions of it count everything that had to be redone.

Final yield flatters almost every process — counting only what shipped ignores the effort spent fixing what nearly did not.

First pass yield is the useful measure. It counts units that got through cleanly on the first attempt.

Count units started, count units completed to standard without any rework, then divide. For a multi step process, calculate yield at each step and multiply the results to get rolled throughput yield across the whole chain.
