Human-centered design is a problem-solving method that puts the people who will use a product, service, or system at the centre of every decision. Teams study real users, prototype with them, and iterate until the design fits observed behaviour, not assumptions.
The method sits inside the broader design thinking family, but it is stricter about evidence. It is codified in ISO 9241-210, the international standard for human-centred design of interactive systems, first published in 2010 and revised in 2019.
