1. Microsoft

Microsoft is one of the largest software companies in the world and they continue to adapt by adopting a hybrid work approach.

The company places emphasis on the importance of flexibility and encouraging workers to work in a condition that best suits them.

Additionally, they can work from home either 50% of the time and during hours that are most convenient for them to deliver results.

In fact, work hours are not even set in stone, as new employees can figure out a work schedule with their recruiter during the hiring process.

2. Apple

Apple has decided on a strict schedule, with Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday as fixed on-site days. However, it is safe to say that Apple’s approach has not received the best response.

Because of the company’s lack of flexibility, employees have resigned, with some not acclimating to these new conditions.

While their setup is in fact a hybrid work model, it is a reminder that establishing such a setup must be handled delicately and with care for the employees.

3. Google

Google’s approach to the hybrid system is more accommodating. The days you choose to work at the office is up to the discretion of the team managers and members.

In other words, not everyone has to report to the office on the same days. This offers a lot more flexibility as teams can discuss amongst themselves when the most ideal days to work on-site are.

4. Amazon

The e-commerce giant has taken a more individualistic approach to the hybrid setup, allowing employees to choose what their balance of on-site and remote work is best for them.

This is taking into consideration the opinions of the other team members until they come to a common decision.

However, the implication here is that one setup may not be ideal for one team member as factors like transportation affect the decision. This emphasizes the importance of compromise and taking the needs of other employees into account.

5. Spotify

Spotify’s Work From Anywhere initiative inspires employees to work wherever is most convenient for them. They do not forget to prioritize communication and collaboration regardless of where they work.

This employee-centered approach aims to provide the same level of flexibility and productivity without compromising work operations.

6. Adobe

Adobe has fully embraced the hybrid setup since 2021. Employees can choose to work remotely 50% of the time and the other half for working on-site.

Despite employees showing up at the office only half of the time, the company is still able to cultivate a culture of socialization and collaboration during office gatherings.

It goes to show that with the right policy in place, companies can have a meaningful work experience even if they do not meet face-to-face all the time.

7. HubSpot

HubSpot gives their employees multiple options of when to report to the office, and they are listed as the following:

  1. The @office setup allows workers to work on-site 3 days or more per week.
  2. The @flex setup accommodates 2 days or fewer days at the office.
  3. Lastly, the @home setup allows employees to work fully remotely, coming into the office only once per quarter.

Giving your employees a choice on what the best setup is for them gives them much flexibility and allows them to plan ahead of time.

Furthermore, HubSpot believes that results are the most important factor, regardless of when and where they are produced. This is as long as it works best for the employee and does not sacrifice quality.

If you are a fully remote company and are planning on incorporating a hybrid workforce, it is best to first discuss it with your employees.

Since this change-up will directly affect them, it is best to keep them feeling comfortable regardless of the setup.

Clearly outline your expectations and policies when working both from the office and from home. This keeps things clear and well-defined for everyone in the workforce and keeps results consistent.

Additionally, ensure you have the right resources to accommodate working both remotely and in the office. This may include necessary software, tools, and utilities.
