CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — Business process outsourcing company (BPO) Sourcefit has launched a new office in Cape Town, South Africa, marking its first foray into the thriving region.

The launch was held in Cape Town’s De Waterkant area. Sourcefit President Andy Schachtel highlighted the potential of South Africa, praising its skilled workforce.

“We’ve already seen significant growth in just the few months that we’ve been operating in Cape Town; and that is a testament not only to the positive local business environment and hard work of our team but also to the competitiveness of the South African workforce in the global market,” Schachtel said.

South Africa has been emerging as an outsourcing hotspot. Its vast talent pool, coupled with ample government support, has attracted various BPO firms to set up shop in the region.

According to Pnet’s Job Market Trends report, South Africa is witnessing a surge in demand for artificial intelligence-related roles such as data scientists (29%), data analysts (24%), and data engineers (16%).

Last year, the South African government announced its plan to allocate $30 million to the BPO sector. The investment aims to expand high-value information technology, finance, healthcare, legal, and retail services across provinces.

The move is part of the government’s strategy to create half a million BPO jobs by 2030 in response to youth unemployment rates exceeding 46%.

Meanwhile, Sourcefit secured investments from three firms through an equity financing round last month. The firm aims to use it for its expansion initiatives and tech enhancements.

The BPO company is subscribed to the Outsource Accelerator (OA) Source Partner Program, a powerful tool that helps BPO firms with marketing, sales, and business intelligence.

Sourcefit ranked #131 in the 2024 OA500, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. Last year, the BPO firm ranked 147th.
